Brief narration:

The Ethiopian Evangelical Church of charlotte was established on the 1st day of April 2012 as a mission church and began meeting at the Ascension Lutheran Church 1225 East Morehead Street, Charlotte NC 28204. Since then, with the Lord’s blessings, it is growing slowly but surely.

Here are some of our main focus areas as a church:

1) Evangelism

- Proclaiming the saving good news of Christ to those that have not committed to Christ yet.

- Caring for people, whom God has created in His own image, as He cares for them, and diligently laboring to reach them with the saving message of the gospel.

- Understanding that evangelism should have a visible impact around the community in which the church exits and laboring with dedication to bring about this kind of impact within the community.

2) Worship

- Gratifying God in everything that we do

- Doing everything that we do for God with excellence

- Having visionary faith to accomplish our mission and take risk for God, depending on Him for everything

3) Fellowship

- Making people an active member of the body of Christ

- Building a church family where all people will treat be treated with dignity, respect and courtesy

- Building a church family that reflect the love and unity of God

4) Discipleship

- To increase Christian faithfulness.

- Teaching people to come to the maturity of Christ likeness in their day to day life

- Transforming people’s life into the image of Christ by the message of God’s word, which is the only agent that has the power to do so.

- Making the epic focus of our ministry the transformation of people into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ

5) Ministry

- Expressing God’s love by serving others

- Recognizing that every believer has a God-given spiritual gift and thus has an area of ministry and helping the believers to discover, raise and use their gifts to make a difference in the Kingdom of God.

- Understanding that ministry and evangelism must be carried out in a relevant way, making Jesus Christ relevant in the daily life of each person being reached, not in a vague and religious manner.

Our beliefs:

The scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments are the verbally inspired word of GOD, and completely inherent in the original writings, and of supreme and final authority in faith and life. The triune GOD eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit:

1. God the Father is Almighty and eternal, creator of all things, both visible and invisible in his love made a covenant with the people of Israel. In keeping with this covenant, God also prepared a way of salvation for all humanity through His Son Jesus Christ. To all those that accept Jesus Christ and repent their sins, he gave authority to be the children of God.

2. God the son, The Lord Jesus Christ is the Son of GOD, born of the Virgin Mary, He is God Almighty and complete human being, suffered and died on the cross for our sins, was buried, rose bodily from the dead, appeared to men, ascended into heaven, who now sits on the right hand of the Father and intercedes for us, and who is coming again with great power and glory Jesus Christ is the only mediator between man and God.

3. God the Holy Spirit is the spiritual personality of the trinity. The Holy Spirit convicts the world about sin and righteousness and judgment. He indwells in believers and leads them to all truth. He encourages and gives them power to live the life of holiness. Until the return of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit will fill Christians with spiritual gifts of grace to enable them to serve Jesus with power, authority and love.

4. The ordinance of water baptism should be observed by all who have repented and have truly in their hearts believed in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savoir.

5. The Lord's Supper, consisting of the elements of bread and wine, symbolic of our sharing in His body and blood as a memorial of His suffering and death and a prophecy of His second coming.

6. Satan We believe in the existence of a personal devil who is Himself a fallen angel of God and who with a highly organized host of evil spirits seeks the control of mankind through obvious and devious ways against which the Christian must daily fortify himself although Satan and his hosts are destined for eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire. (Isa. 14:12; 2 Peter 2:4; Eph. 6:11-18; Dan. 10:12, 13; 1 Pet. 5:8, 9; 2 Cor. 11:14; James 4:7; Matt. 25:41)

7. Man, His Fall We believe Man was created good and upright, for God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness." But man, by voluntary transgression, fell, and his only hope of redemption is in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. (Gen. 1:26-31; 3:1-7; Rom.5:12-21)

8. The Salvation of Man We believe that Salvation is in the Person, Jesus Christ, alone and that the New Birth without which man "cannot enter the kingdom of God" is experienced through "repentance toward God and faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ." (John 3:16; 1 John 5:11; John 3:5; Acts 20:21; John 1:12, 13) the inward Evidence to the believer of his Salvation is the direct witness of the Spirit; the Outward Evidence to all men is a life of righteousness and true holiness. (Rom. 8:16; 1 John 2:3-6).

9. The Church We believe the true church of Christ is both a universal and local body of Christians which exists interdenominational but consists exclusively of these persons only who through the New Birth are in Christ; and that, the church has been divinely commissioned as a holy priesthood to offer true worship to God, and as ambassadors of His Kingdom to show mankind the way of the Lord. (Matt. 13:24-30; Rev. 2:1; Job. 3:3-5: 1 Pet. 2:5; John 4:23,24; Matt. 5:13-16; Act. 1:8; 2 Cor. 5:30)

10. We believe...A Final Judgment Will Take Place for those who have rejected Christ. They will be judged for their sin and consigned to eternal punishment in a punishing lake of fire.

11. We believe...and look forward to the perfect New Heavens and a New Earth that Christ is preparing for all people, of all time, who have accepted Him. We will live and dwell with Him there forever following His millennial reign on Earth. 'And so shall we forever be with the Lord!
